10 Myths Your Boss Is Spreading About Item Upgrading Item Upgrading

World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will gain an additional 3% of the previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is used (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment with the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be revealed at the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure how much it can be improved upon the reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in their radius as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.

You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the best method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and give a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs You will have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.

Utilizing the Glyph can boost all nodes that are connected to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids, for example, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The  item upgrading  system lets players increase the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a drawback, as the item can become more expensive even if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it's not something that should be performed frequently, since it can waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP, as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original condition which means that the player has to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on the bar for growth will be reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than normal equipment. For instance, they may need less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires an individual amount of upgrade ingredients.
